Harris-Walz 2024
When Vice President Harris became the nominee in 2024, I joined the campaign as a Senior Advisor. In the role, I was in charge of establishing a new video strategy, improving road coverage, providing creative direction for social content, organizing the video department, and directing videos with the nominees.
Drawing on my experience working with the vice president and her team in 2019 and 2020, I worked to transition the campaign’s creative approach from Biden to Harris, ensuring that the campaign would better reflect the new candidate. I produced and directed the video introducing Tim Walz as the vice presidential nominee and was the campaign’s go-to producer and director for major video shoots featuring Harris.
In addition to producing and directing videos with the candidates, I focused on establishing a new, platform-optimized strategy for the video team and organized the road team so that we were publishing videos from rallies and appearances as quickly as possible. Despite the frustration and ultimate disappointment, the role felt uniquely gratifying because it enabled me to express a number of skills I care about: establishing a positive work culture, positioning creatives for success, optimizing social performance, and working with principals.
Driven by a refreshed creative approach and the success of @KamalaHQ, the campaign generated over 8 billion video views and created a number of major cultural moments. The team proved that effective social content can reach voters across demographics. I have a long list of things that I wish would’ve been done better, but I take faith in the fact that the hyper-talented content creators I mentored in 2024 will go on to be successful leaders within the Democratic party.
